June 28-29........ARRL Field Day
The American Radio Relay League (ARRL), the National Organization for Amateur Radio sponsors this 24-hour period annually. Well over 35,000 amateur radio operators across the country practice their operating skills and test their emergency preparedness capabilities by contacting as many other amateur radio operators as possible throughout the United States and Canada.
The Delaware Lehigh Amateur Radio Club (DLARC) will demonstrate our radio based communication abilities which are always ready for emergencies, whether local or national, at our Field Day location at Louise W Moore Park (Pavilion #5) in Easton, Pennsylvania. You can search for other Field Day sites that may be closer to your location by using the ARRL FD locator http://www.arrl.org/field-day-locator. Louise W Moore Park is conveniently located off Route 33 - Take Hecktown Road west to the traffic light, then turn left onto Country Club road. The park entrance will be a short way down on your left. Custom driving directions from your starting point are available on the Internet at http://mapq.st/1isCuCN (MapQuest site). On Saturday, June 28th at 2 pm, DLARC will begin its 24-hour Field Day operation. You are invited to see this fun activity in action! Our GOTA (Get On The Air) station will be available to anyone that wishes to make actual radio contacts during Field Day. There is no cost associated with this and no license is required as the GOTA station is closely supervised by a licensed amateur radio operator. Stop by and give it a try! DLARC members will be available to answer any questions about amateur radio and we can provide you with further information if you are interested in obtaining a license.
