Roseto Memorial Day Services
Martocci-Capobianco American Legion Post # 750 legionnaires will depart from the Post home located on Garibaldi Ave in Roseto at 8:30 a.m. and proceed to the New Catholic Cemetery where services will be held at 9:00.
The contingent will then move to the Roseto Presbyterian Cemetery on Liberty St for services at 9:30. The final graveside services will be held at the Catholic cemetery adjacent to Our Lady of Mt Carmel church at 10:00. At the services at the municipal plaza that the main speaker will be Lt Col Dr Albert DeFranco. From this cemetery the legionnaires will proceed to the Municipal Plaza on Garibaldi Ave for the Community Services at the War Monuments beginning at 10:45 a.m. These services will also include the clergy from the area churches…the Reverends James and Thomas Prior of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church and the Rev Barry Eng, pastor of Roseto Independent Presbyterian Church and Rev J Harry McElroy, pastor of Bangor-Roseto Presbyterian Church. In addition, students from the three area schools will read their winning essays on the topic “WHAT MEMORIAL DAY MEANS TO ME”. Representing Our Lady of Mt Carmel School will be Andrew Richmond and Morgan Stambaugh; from DeFranco Elementary School will be Holly Rosevear and Bailey Allen ;and Faith Christian will be represented by Jordan Sheppard and Mitchell Schurter.. Oratorical presentations will be given by Emily Kolankiewicz of Bangor Middle School and Daniel Ruddy of Pius X JR High. Wreaths will be placed on the War Monuments by the Post. In the event of inclement weather, the community services will be held indoors at the Post Home at 143 Garibaldi Ave. Mount Bethel Memorial Day Service
The Mt. Bethel American Legion Post 216 is hosting a Memorial Day parade and service on May 26 at the Slate Belt Museum, on Rt. 611 in Mt. Bethel, PA at 11am.
Featured speaker will be Ellis Williams. In case of rain it will be held in the Upper Mt. Bethel Fire Company’s Social Hall. All are invited. Bangor Memorial Day Service
Memorial Day Ceremony in Bangor will be held starting 10:00am at St. Johns Cemetery and ending at Founders Park, S Main St on Monday May 26,.
Free trolley will be available from the Bangor American Legion and Bangor Elks to St. Johns Cemetery. The guest speaker is State Representative Joe Emrick. This year they will also recognize Slate Belt High School seniors who will be joining the service after graduation. The program is sponsored by the Bangor American Legion, Bangor Veterans of Foreign Wars and Bangor Elks. In case of rain, the ceremony will be held at the Bangor VFW. Pen Argyl Memorial Day Service
A memorial day service will be presented at the Fairview Cemetery on Monday, May 26th, 10:00am Guest speaker will be Jim Love, music by Hope Gospel Quartet.
Refreshments will be served following the ceremony at the Pen Argyl American Legion Post 502. In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held at Grace United Methodist Church, 404 East Mountain Ave, Pen Argyl. West Bangor Memorial Day Service
The West Bangor Memorial Association will hold its Annual Memorial Day program on Monday, May 26 at 11:00 a.m. at the Memorial site, Second Street, West Bangor.
The principal speaker will be Major Mary Francis, Commanding Officer of The Salvation Army of Pen Argyl. The Hope Gospel Quartet will render musical selections. In case of inclement weather, services will be held at St. Joseph’s Episcopal Church Social Hall, Verona Avenue, West Bangor Portland - Mt. Bethel Memorial Day Service All are invited by the Mt. Bethel-Portland Memorial Post 216 American Legion to Memorial Day services 11:00am Monday May 26 at Mt. Bethel War Memorial Route 611, Mt. Bethel, PA.
East Bangor Memorial Day Service
A Memorial Day service will be held on Monday, May 26th, at 1:00 p.m. at the East Bangor Cemetery.
The speaker will be Rev. David Felker. Rev. Felker is a Vietnam War veteran. He is presently a part-time pastor serving the Danielsville United Methodist Church. Musical selections will be offered by the Ellis Williams Trio. There will be a roll call of those veterans who died in the past year and are now buried in the East Bangor Cemetery. A gun salute will be fired by the Martocci-Capobianco Post 750 American Legion, Roseto. Taps will be played by Larry Miller. The East Bangor Fire Co. and Civil Air Patrol will be in attendance. In the event of rain, the service will be held at the East Bangor United Methodist Community Church, 136 W. Central Ave. (Rt. 512), East Bangor. The church is sponsoring the service. The 16th annual Tortoise and Hare 5K will be held at Wind Gap Park May 26 starting at 9:00am.
