Phone and Computer Scam
SBRPD received a report of a phone scam that a Plainfield Township resident reported happening on August 19 when an unknown person with an Indian accent called requesting permission to remote into their computer to fix a Windows 10 virus. The victim reported that on August 2 another person called claiming to be from the IRS demanding money. SBRPD advises that the IRS does not call residents to request money. Do not give checking account routing or account numbers to anyone over the phone unless you are positive of who you are doing business with.

Heinz Must Drop Ketchup Label in Israel
The Health Ministry ordered Heinz to remove the word "ketchup" from its labeling in favor of "tomato seasoning" following lobbying by Osem, Israel's leading ketchup manufacturer.
Osem accused Heinz of having only 21 percent tomato concentrate in its ketchup instead of the 61 percent it claims in advertising.
The Health Ministry, which requires foods labeled "ketchup" to contain at least 41 percent concentrate, sided with Osem and ordered Heinz to relabel its product "tomato seasoning."
A spokesman for Diplomat, the Israeli distributor for Heinz, earlier defended the ketchup against Osem's claims.
"Obviously, Osem, which has a monopoly, would be happy if it were only possible to sell their product in Israel," the spokesman told Ynet in January. "But Osem's claims have no substance."
Diplomat is reportedly appealing to the Health Ministry to reconsider the ruling.

Researchers Encounter Dumbo Octopus
The Exploration Vessel Nautilus, operated by the Ocean Exploration Trust, shared photos on Twitter and a video on YouTube of the dumbo octopus encountered during a dive off the central California coast. The video shows the octopus, a jellyfish and a small shark before closing in for a close-up of the "shy" invertebrate hiding in its tentacles.
"Hello there, little fella," one of the researchers says when the camera zooms in on the octopus.
The scientists discuss the cuteness of the dumbo octopus and note that its brain is wrapped around its esophagus.
"This is what scientists do when we're really excited," one of the researchers jokes.
BACK-TO-SCHOOL...
Prepping for College 101
“You’ll want your dorm room or apartment to be a space in which you can thrive academically and socially from day one,” says Jessica Joyce, spokeswoman for Bed Bath & Beyond, a well-known destination for college essentials.
Joyce and the lifestyle experts at Bed Bath & Beyond are offering tips to set up your dorm room with form and function in mind.
• Use a Checklist: Stay organized and on-budget by using a shopping checklist. Many stores that sell housewares provide shopping guides for college students that break down all the basics needed for campus living. Use this as a base point for what you’ll need and add your own custom items to it, so that when you get to the store you won’t miss any essentials.
• Know School Rules: For specific information about your college, use online resources such as,bedbathandbeyond.com/shopforcollege, which offers customized lists of what students can and can’t bring with them to their school and what the school provides. Students can also use these pages to locate stores close to campus.
• Think Small: For many students, moving to a college dorm room means living in a smaller space. Take this into consideration when planning how you will organize your items. Space-saving storage tools and multifunctional items, such as bed risers that have an AC outlet and USB charger, can help students pack more essentials into a smaller space.
• Build a Better Bed: As if getting a good night’s sleep isn’t hard enough in a dorm, standard college beds are often thin and less comfortable than what students are accustomed to at home. The solution? Add cozy layers of comfort and support with a mattress pad, memory foam topper or fiberbed.
• Create a College Registry: High school graduates can create a registry wish list online or in-store of what they want for their new space, to share with family and friends. Students can also use their registries to share what they’re bringing to school with their roommates.
• Roomie Request: Once students receive their housing assignment, they should finalize room decisions to avoid duplication. Decide ahead of time which items to share, like a coffeemaker or TV, and whether students want to coordinate décor.
• Getting There: Getting your new items to college can be tricky. Look for such services as Bed Bath & Beyond’s free in-store service, Pack & Hold, which lets students and parents shop for items at a store near home and then conveniently pick them up at a location closer to campus. The service is especially beneficial for students traveling to school far away from home.
Once the semester gets underway, your schedule will be jam-packed with classes, activities, studying and friends. Set up your space wisely for a successful start to the year.

Famed Steam Engine Coming to Area
Nickel
Plate Road (NKP) #765, a 2-8-4
Berkshire-type steam locomotive will roll into The Historic Dansbury Depot in East Stroudsburg on
Labor Day.
Six hundred riders are expected on this trip as Steamtown National Historic Site and the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society will partner with Norfolk Southern’s 21st Century Steam program to operate two special summer steam excursions! Nickel Plate Road (NKP) #765, a 2-8-4 Berkshire-type steam locomotive, owned by the Fort Wayne group, will operate Saturday, September 5 to Delaware Water Gap and Monday, September 7, to Dansbury Depot in East Stroudsburg. NKP #765 is a “sister” locomotive to Steamtown’s NKP #759 locomotive, on static display inside the park’s Roundhouse. Tickets will be sold online only, at http://fortwaynerailroad.org/ Historic steam locomotive no. 765 is a high-stepping, fourteen-wheeled, magnificent machine that stands 15 feet tall, weighs 404 tons, goes over 60 miles an hour and restored to the way it looked and sounded when it was built by the Lima Locomotive Works in 1944. These were precision machines forged and crafted from solid steel. They meant something to those who worked in their shadow. Make no mistake, however, these iron horses, so often romanticized, take hard, unwieldy work to corral and maintain. They lived and breathed, had voices and moods, and hummed with an audible heartbeat; they were the most human of all our inventions. The 765 is one of a famous class of steam locomotives called the Berkshire; one known for its super power technology and aesthetic charm. The men and women of the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society saved the 765 from becoming a rusting monument in a city park and restored it to operating condition in 1979. For fourteen years thereafter, the 765 would run special excursion trains around the country to the delight of 100,000 passengers. From 1993 to 2005, the 765 was completely rebuilt, and is now more than ready to reach another hundred thousand people. Food and entertainment will be available throughout the town and at the depot. For local information email Sonya Cole at [email protected]. September 9

Ask The Doc........ Technology can be wonderful!
by Dr. Gary Williams, DMD
garywilliamsdmd.com I know sometimes new technologies can be frustrating and leave us questioning whether “progress” is worth the hassle. But, that is not the case with intra-oral digital scanners. We have been using our digital scanner at Family Dental Care now for 3 months, and the results are amazing. Sure, it’s pretty “cool” technology, and it has been totally comfortable for patients. No gagging going on! And the turn around time is much shorter. All of these are pluses, but here is the real benefit… the accuracy and fit of what we are making. I can comfortably predict a great fit of your new crowns, splints, Invisalign aligners, retainers, and anything else we scan for. That makes it worthwhile. It’s one thing to restore your mouth to health, but I want, you want, and you deserve to rest assured that what is placed in your mouth is the best possible fit known to dentistry. Digital scanning is here to stay at Family Dental Care. Feel free to ask us about our scanner. Garywilliamsdmd.com. Slate Belt Senior Center
