Show your Green & White Spirit by sharing in this special evening with other Alumni Trinity Lutheran Church Thanks Community
Trinity Lutheran Church held a program this summer known as “Tasty Tuesdays”. This is the second summer that the church has provided free bag lunches to children and adults throughout the community. The program ran from June 16 to August 11 and provided over 350 lunches to those in need. The lunches would not have been possible without the support from the church and the community.
We would like to extend our thanks and praise to all those who partnered with us this year- Slater Family Network for helping to spread the news, Bangor Lions Club, Merchants Bank, Bangor General Store, Weis Markets, Thrivent Financial, the Bowley family and an anonymous donor from within the community. We would also like to thank all of the individuals who gave of their time on Tuesdays to help set up, prepare and provide the lunches for those who needed them. Man In Bear Suit Harasses Mother & Cubs
Mark Sogge, a spokesman for the department's Haines office, said Chilkoot Lake weir technician Lou Cenicola saw a man in a "realistic-looking" bear suit run through a group of people standing at the side of a road watching bears by the Chilkoot Rive
Cenicola saw the man run up to the weir gate "waving and jumping" in an apparent attempt to get the attention of the sow and cubs, which were about 5 to 10 feet away from the gate, Sogge said.
The technician's report of the incident said Cenicola told the man he could be cited for wildlife harassment and the costumed man left without identifying himself.
Sogge said Cenicola was able to jot down the man's license plate number his report was turned over to Alaska State Troopers.
Troopers are aware of the incident and an investigation is underway, spokeswomanMegan Peters said.
Sogge said the man's bear costume would not have prevented the mother from attacking if she thought he was threatening her cubs.
A jogger was mauled by a bear earlier this month while on a trail along Skilak Lake. Gabbriele Markel, 20, was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Congregation Starts Gun Range at Church
He said the range was originally used as a facility to teach gun safety to church members.
"We had quite a number of church members, some elderly ladies, for example, and some not so elderly women that had purchased guns, but didn't know how to use them," Guin told WIAT-TV.
He said the safety classes evolved into a ministry, the Rocky Mount Hunt and Gun Club.
"This is an opportunity for us to reach out in the name of Jesus Christ in a setting that is completely unique. Even odd by some people's standards. But who's to say that church can't happen right here," Guin said.
Guin said the group is looking to offer safety classes to the public in the future.
"Really, the whole purpose of this range is to provide recreational and gun safety in a warm, loving, Christian environment," Guin said. "We wanted to come up with some different ideas to help our church grow, and we thought this would be a unique ministry to offer to the community."
"Right now, we are just really happy with how everything turned out," Guin said. "We found a use for the small 'Grand Canyon' behind our church, and turned it into something that is pretty cool."

Ask The Doc........ Technology can be wonderful!
by Dr. Gary Williams, DMD
garywilliamsdmd.com I know sometimes new technologies can be frustrating and leave us questioning whether “progress” is worth the hassle. But, that is not the case with intra-oral digital scanners. We have been using our digital scanner at Family Dental Care now for 3 months, and the results are amazing. Sure, it’s pretty “cool” technology, and it has been totally comfortable for patients. No gagging going on! And the turn around time is much shorter. All of these are pluses, but here is the real benefit… the accuracy and fit of what we are making. I can comfortably predict a great fit of your new crowns, splints, Invisalign aligners, retainers, and anything else we scan for. That makes it worthwhile. It’s one thing to restore your mouth to health, but I want, you want, and you deserve to rest assured that what is placed in your mouth is the best possible fit known to dentistry. Digital scanning is here to stay at Family Dental Care. Feel free to ask us about our scanner. Garywilliamsdmd.com. Slate Belt Senior Center
