New Approach presents "The Finale" A Celebration of Life for Jean Pinto, on Saturday, November 24 at 2:00 pm in Wind Gap Middle School. After 48 years, this will be the last concert the group performs. Join them as they pay tribute to the founder of New Approach.

A benefit for Joe Uliana Sr.will be held Sunday, November 25, 2018 at 12 PM – 9 PM If you know him, he’s had many medical issues throughout the past 10 years, and in September of 2018, he was diagnosed with stage 3 liver cancer. They are hosting a benefit to provide costs for living outside of the hospital. His benefit will be hosted at East Bangor Fire Hall, and there will be bands, tricky trays, a DJ, door prizes, and more. Tickets to get in are $20, and they are able to be bought in advance.

The Borough of Portland will be having their annual Holiday Tree Lighting on Nov. 25th at 6:30pm. Come and enjoy hot cocoa and cookies while waiting for Santa & Mrs. Claus to arrive on a Fire Truck. Kick off the Holiday Season with a message from Mayor Prator & a Holiday Blessing from our local Ministries, followed by local musicians singing holiday carols. Take a picture with Mr. & Mrs. Claus and send a letter to Santa. The Tree will be lit at 7:00pm by our Honorary Tree Lighter. Bring an ornament (plastic, non-edible) to hang on the tree. Vendors may only take up one table, unless they have purchase more space. Table space is available at a cost of $20.00 per table. Doors to the public will be open from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Hosted by First United Methodist Church Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 9 AM – 11 AM, 55 North 3rd Street, Bangor. You're invited to bring your children to their second annual Breakfast with Santa at the church. You'll enjoy a delicious, hot, all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet with Santa. Everyone will have an opportunity to have their picture taken with Santa!
Seating is limited so make your reservations now. Last year we were at maximum capacity and couldn't admit any more. Children under 12 are free, all others are $5.
No refunds will be issued for cancellations made within 2 weeks of the event or for no-shows as your reservations are for your seats and means that someone else was unable to attend.
Winter Wildlife Watch
On Saturday, December 8 at 10:00 AM-3:00 PM, spend some of your Saturday watching wildlife at Jacobsburg! Our educators will have activities available at the visitor center including a morning bird walk, bird feeder making, indoor wildlife viewing area, and an afternoon hike to find traces of animals along the trails. Hot chocolate will be available all day long. Join us for one of the organized adventures, choose your own, or enjoy the activities at the visitor center.
Elks National Hoop Shoot
Bangor Lodge #1106 of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks is pleased to announce the
Elks National Hoop Shoot to be held beginning at 12:00 PM noon on Saturday December 8, 2018 at the Washington Elementary School, 381 Washington Blvd, Bangor, PA. This Free Throw Contest is open to boys and girls ages 8 through 13 and is free to all contestants. Registration will be open beginning at 11:30 AM on December 8, 2018 at the school gymnasium.
Beginning at the local level, winning contestants will advance through District, State, Regional, and National competitions. The Elks helps sponsor contestants and their families at every level of competition. One boy and one girl from each division will win a national title at the National Finals and have their names inscribed in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Two National Champions will receive the Getty Powell Award for most baskets made during the National Finals.
The Elks National Hoop Shoot Program, sponsored by the Elks National Foundation, provides a character-building, competitive experience for all contestants. Contestants learn about the importance of respect and good sportsmanship. The Bangor Lodge is a proud sponsor of this annual local event. Winners of this local event will represent our Lodge at the District Free throw competition, also being held at Washington Elementary in February.

You're invited to bring your children to their second annual Breakfast with Santa at the church. You'll enjoy a delicious, hot, all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet with Santa. Everyone will have an opportunity to have their picture taken with Santa!
Seating is limited so make your reservations now. Last year we were at maximum capacity and couldn't admit any more. Children under 12 are free, all others are $5.
No refunds will be issued for cancellations made within 2 weeks of the event or for no-shows as your reservations are for your seats and means that someone else was unable to attend.
Winter Wildlife Watch
On Saturday, December 8 at 10:00 AM-3:00 PM, spend some of your Saturday watching wildlife at Jacobsburg! Our educators will have activities available at the visitor center including a morning bird walk, bird feeder making, indoor wildlife viewing area, and an afternoon hike to find traces of animals along the trails. Hot chocolate will be available all day long. Join us for one of the organized adventures, choose your own, or enjoy the activities at the visitor center.
Elks National Hoop Shoot
Bangor Lodge #1106 of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks is pleased to announce the
Elks National Hoop Shoot to be held beginning at 12:00 PM noon on Saturday December 8, 2018 at the Washington Elementary School, 381 Washington Blvd, Bangor, PA. This Free Throw Contest is open to boys and girls ages 8 through 13 and is free to all contestants. Registration will be open beginning at 11:30 AM on December 8, 2018 at the school gymnasium.
Beginning at the local level, winning contestants will advance through District, State, Regional, and National competitions. The Elks helps sponsor contestants and their families at every level of competition. One boy and one girl from each division will win a national title at the National Finals and have their names inscribed in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Two National Champions will receive the Getty Powell Award for most baskets made during the National Finals.
The Elks National Hoop Shoot Program, sponsored by the Elks National Foundation, provides a character-building, competitive experience for all contestants. Contestants learn about the importance of respect and good sportsmanship. The Bangor Lodge is a proud sponsor of this annual local event. Winners of this local event will represent our Lodge at the District Free throw competition, also being held at Washington Elementary in February.

Santa Claus, with the help of the Lookout Fire Co. , will be visiting the children of Pen Argyl on a fire truck, bringing gifts to your home!
To be included on the list for Santa to stop at your house, sign ups will be held on Monday December 10th and 17th from 6 - 7:30 pm at the Lookout Fire Co. Social Hall on North Robinson Ave. All gifts must be wrapped when signing up, and we will only be accepting one gift per child.
This is only for residents of Pen Argyl Borough.

Santa Claus is coming to town! Mount Bethel and North Bangor Volunteer Fire Departments' Santa Gift Delivery is Saturday December 15th from 4-7pm. and Sunday December 16th from 1-4pm (Upper Mount Bethel Residents only).
For a $10 per child donation, you can have a pre-wrapped gift (up to 2 gifts) delivered to your home by Santa on a Fire Truck!

Special Workshop Meeting
A "Special Workshop Meeting" will take place at the Upper Mount Bethel Township (UMBT) Building at 7:30pm on December 20, 2018 and will feature Ron Stern of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development. Mr. Stern has been overseeing the Upper Mount Bethel Study and will be at the Special Workshop Meeting to discuss what it takes to get a police force in place whether local, regional or by contracted police services provided by another municipality.
The topic for discussion will be crime statistics in UMBT for October and November and the Call Responses by the Pennsylvania State Police.
For October in Upper Mount Bethel the PSP Belfast station handled a total of 173 calls for service. The attached spreadsheet contains the significant incidents which required an investigation.
· The majority of the calls for October were what the State Police consider to be minor in nature and required no formal report other than notes in theirComputed Aided Dispatch (CAD) sheets such as false alarms, welfare checks, security checks at schools, traffic stops, etc.
