A pot connoisseur, on the other hand, could choose between strains with names like "purple haze," "chocolope" and "green crack."
Bizarre names are a time-honored tradition among pot growers, going back at least to the 1970s, when strains such as "Maui Waui" (from Hawaii, naturally) came onto the scene. Why such goofy names? Well, one reason might be the process behind the naming decisions. "So many times, we've finally got to the end of a strain, and we have it right there and it's done, and we're like, 'What do we call it?'" one of the co-owners of Amsterdam's DNA Genetics, a cannabis seed bank, told the LA Times in July 2014. "And we sit there, and we call all our friends and smoke. That's a brainstorm session." By Stephanie Pappas, Live Science Contributor
90-Year-Old "Candyman" Every single Tuesday, Bernie Weiner stocks his cart.
"I like everything to be neat, can't stand it sloppy," Weiner said. He then hits the halls of Levindale Hebrew Geriatric Center and Hospital in north Baltimore. They call him the "Candyman." He's not just selling the sweets to staff and patients. He brings warmth and friendship. "I have one question for you. How long have you been doing this?" a resident asked. "I've been volunteering here 23 years. I don't know how much longer God will let me do it. I'm going to be 90 years old," Weiner said. "Ninety, oh, my gosh! You don't look 90," the resident said. Weiner doesn't act 90, either. "What do I like about it? The respect I get doing something for people. I really do. A lot of these people can't go to the gift shop, so I go to them," Weiner said. "It gets their minds off their problems for a while." The money Weiner makes goes back to the facility to help fund trips and entertainment for the residents. "He is a ray of sunshine here. He has great rapport with our residents, our patients (and) our staff. He can't walk down the hall without being stopped several times," said Desiree Erdman, with Levindale Guest Relations. They say candy is like childhood -- something you wish could last forever. "All my friends my age are dead, seriously. They retire, they sit on their rear ends and that's the end of them. I like to keep busy," Weiner said. "It makes me feel good." It's a feeling that's full circle. Bald Eagle Nest Cams in Hanover, PA - Live To view click on Camera 1 or 2 below.

EGO Act Passed Washington, DC – The U.S. House of Representatives passed the bipartisan Eliminating Government-funded Oil-painting (EGO) Act, which would prohibit the use of federal funds to pay for portraits of government officials. U.S. Representative Matt Cartwright (D-PA-17) introduced the EGO Act last March. “I am pleased that the House passed this bipartisan bill to save taxpayer dollars,” said Rep. Cartwright. “Every dollar the government spends on vanity projects for federal officials is a dollar that is not spent improving the lives of hardworking Americans. It’s just wrong to spend taxpayer dollars on portraits the public will never see.” Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) introduced the Senate companion of the bill. “The national debt is over $20 trillion,” said Dr. Cassidy. “There’s no excuse for spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on paintings of government officials.” THIS DAY IN HISTORY - March 9Barbie makes her debut 1959 On this day in 1959, the first Barbie doll goes on display at the American Toy Fair in New York City. Eleven inches tall, with a waterfall of blond hair, Barbie was the first mass-produced toy doll in the United States with adult features. The woman behind Barbie was Ruth Handler, who co-founded Mattel, Inc. with her husband in 1945. After seeing her young daughter ignore her baby dolls to play make-believe with paper dolls of adult women, Handler realized there was an important niche in the market for a toy that allowed little girls to imagine the future. Barbie’s appearance was modeled on a doll named Lilli, based on a German comic strip character. Originally marketed as a racy gag gift to adult men in tobacco shops, the Lilli doll later became extremely popular with children. Mattel bought the rights to Lilli and made its own version, which Handler named after her daughter, Barbara. With its sponsorship of the “Mickey Mouse Club” TV program in 1955, Mattel became the first toy company to broadcast commercials to children. They used this medium to promote their new toy, and by 1961, the enormous consumer demand for the doll led Mattel to release a boyfriend for Barbie. Handler named him Ken, after her son. Barbie’s best friend, Midge, came out in 1963; her little sister, Skipper, debuted the following year.
