Adam Pacitti, 24, of Ryde on the Isle of Wight, said he acted out of desperation after applying for more than 250 jobs in three months. As well as the billboard, in London, Mr Pacitti, who gained a first class degree in media production at the University of Winchester, has also set up a website, employadam.com. The site features a tongue-in-cheek video in which Mr Pacitti promotes his marketing skills. In it, he says: "As you can see from my email inbox I have spent countless hours applying for jobs with no luck which is why I have launched employadam.com. "I am looking for work in the ultra-competitive, cut-throat and slightly vacuous industry that is the media." He continues: "So if I seem like your ideal candidate then please get in touch because, to be honest, I am getting desperate." His website and billboard have become popular on Twitter and he has received thousands of messages of support. Mr Pacitti gained previous success with an internet campaign to find a girl he dreamed of and drew a sketch of. His search gained attention from worldwide media and he claims his website thegirlofmydreams.co.uk had more than four million hits. Can You Believe It?Kitten Visits Horses Up Close SPRUCE GROVE, Alberta, Jan. 6 (UPI) -- A pair of kittens at an Alberta farm found a fast way to make friends with the horses -- by climbing on their food.
A video recorded Thursday at the farm in Spruce Grove shows 20-week-old kittens Justin and Donald getting an up-close look at two horses by climbing on their hanging hay net. The owner said the kittens -- named after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and U.S. President-elect Donald Trump -- were initially frightened of the horses, but they have since become fascinated by the equines. The video shows the horses eating out of the nets and taking some time to sniff the kittens and gently prod them with their noses.
Travel.....Touch Down in Houston for the Big Game(BPT) - February is fast approaching, and with it the year's largest football event. Fans will come from across the nation to experience the highly anticipated Sunday football game in Houston, Texas.
With mild weather, amazing city views, a walkable cultural district and delectable food, visitors will have plenty to keep them busy during their visit to the nation's fourth largest city. Check out the game (even if you don't have a seat) Snagged tickets to the big game? Make sure you check out the "know before you go" transportation details and plan accordingly. Once there, NRG Stadium will be ready, rain or shine. With pro football's first retractable roof, the stadium is nearly as much of a spectacle as the game itself. No tickets? No problem. There are some amazing events happening just outside of NRG, such as the Houston Touchdown Tour or LIVE Fan Festival in Discovery Green Park, which will feature concerts from various Texas artists over the course of nine days leading up to the event. Both events offer free admission and feature fun for everyone! Houston is also filled with restaurants, bars and breweries perfect for catching the game! Some local favorites include: * Saint Arnold Brewing Company: As Texas' oldest craft brewery, Saint Arnold is home to a passionate fan base of beer aficionados, along with people just looking for a fun place to hang out. You can take an official brewery tour or simply enjoy a pint while watching the game in the Beer Hall. * 8th Wonder Brewery: Named for Houston's infamous Astrodome, dubbed the eighth wonder of the world in 1965, 8th Wonder has taken over a "dome-like" warehouse in East downtown. The company explores various styles of beer from around the world, which you can try for yourself at the WonderWorld taproom. * The Hay Merchant: Located in a remodeled building featuring worn brick from its original 1940's structure, Hay Merchant offers a relaxed atmosphere complete with 80 types of beer on tap. * West Alabama Ice House: Open since 1928, West Alabama Ice House means business. The cut and dry bar doesn't serve food or liquor, only the usual beer standards plus Saint Arnold seasonal brews and a small wine selection. * Pub Fiction: With a full selection of liquor, beer and wines and a heavy emphasis on sports with every inch of wall space filled by the latest HD screens, Pub Fiction is a great spot to catch the game. With a recently expanded patio, this spot will be an ideal accommodation for Houstonians and visitors alike come Feb. 5. Explore the city Paint the town your team colors! As the largest city in Texas, Houston is filled with so many entertaining things to do. Hit up Buffalo Bayou Park and "burp the bayou." Built as part of a 1998 art project, you're able to send a massive bubble to the water's surface with the push of a small, red button. A great place to relax or take the kids and get a breath of fresh air, the park is also great to hike, canoe, bike and see bats under the bridge. For the perfect photo opp to document your time in Houston, ride to the top of JP Morgan Chase Tower for an incredible view of the Houston skyline, snap a photo in front of the infamous biscuit paint wall or one of Houston's many wall murals, and definitely make sure to visit Gerald D. Hines Waterwall Park, featuring a 64-foot waterfall. Visit the renowned Space Center Houston, an educational complex and space museum with more than 400 space artifacts. The center serves as a nonprofit gateway to NASA Johnson Space Center and is Houston's only Smithsonian Affiliate museum. Midtown Houston is the heart of Houston night life. Grab drinks and dance the night away with friends at the many bars and clubs the city has to offer in celebration or defeat. Houston is also filled with an underground society of secret bars, such as Last Concert Café and 13 Celsius. Beware, as some of these hotspots are password protected. Stroll through the cultural district. Houston's Museum District is comprised of 19 museums located within approximately one and a half miles of downtown, making it the country's fourth largest museum district. Ten of the 19 museums always feature free general admission, including the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston, Houston Center for Photography and DiverseWorks. Eat everything Save the wings for Sunday, and explore the diverse food scene throughout Houston. As part of the Gulf Coast region, Houston is well known for its Cajun food. Get a taste of Louisiana at Zydeco Louisiana Diner, Brennan's of Houston and Bernadine's. Like any big city, Houston also hosts a variety of global cuisines, including French, Indian and Pakistani, Japanese and Italian. However, when in Texas you can't miss the barbecue, tacos and Tex-Mex. Local favorites include Goode Company Barbeque, Gatlin's BBQ, El Tiempo Cantina, Texas founded-Torchy's Tacos, Cuchara, Hugo's and The Original Ninfa's. Extend your stay Spending a few extra days in the Lone Star State? There are a number of incredible destinations that are quick drive or flight from Houston. San Antonio, Austin and Dallas are all within a three and a half hour drive or 50 minute flight from Houston. If you're looking for a shorter drive but want to feel further away from city life, head 45 minutes south to Galveston Island. This beautiful beach town has everything from luxurious resorts to cottage-style beach rentals. Visitors can take advantage of the deep sea fishing, a family-friendly pleasure pier, and of course, all the fresh Gulf seafood you can handle. Whatever you do for the big game, be sure to make your game plan early! For more information about travel experiences in the Lone Star State, visit www.TravelTexas.com and find us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Health....10 Minute Healthy Habits for 2017 (BPT) - Healthy living is an admirable goal no matter what time of year. The problem is that many people shoot for the stars, resolving to lose a big amount of weight or completely give up foods they adore. A better approach is to make small changes that together can make a big impact.
"People who make smart yet simple lifestyle changes will find it's easier to succeed," says Dr. Margot Savoy, a practicing family physician in Wilmington, Delaware. "It's about all the small victories that add up to winning the war. If you want to feel your best and make changes that will last, think small for big results." Healthy habits take mere minutes a day to complete, but over time can overhaul your health and wellness. What's more, she notes that when you do these easy activities for two or three months, they become automatic. Dr. Savoy suggests five simple steps for healthier living in 2017 that take 10 minutes or less to complete. Be informed Stomach pains? Sore knees? Not sure if it's the cold or the flu? Being healthy means staying informed. When you need more information about your health, visit a reputable website such as familydoctor.org to learn more with a few clicks of the mouse. Developed by the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), the website features easy-to-understand information geared toward the patient. Plus, all information is reviewed by a panel of board certified family physicians, so you can trust the content is updated and accurate. Snack well Eating well is all about balance, and while many Americans are striving to eat healthier at mealtime, it's snacks that are sabotaging their diets. When hunger pangs strike, instead of junk, reach for nutrient-rich foods instead. One of the best ways to do this is to select one drawer in the refrigerator and dedicate it to foods for healthy snacking. Stock it with fruit, veggies, whole grain crackers and low-fat cheese and nuts. Spend 10 minutes each Sunday cutting vegetables and portioning out nuts and other snacks, and all week long you and your family can easily reach for healthier munchies. Move and groove You don't need a fancy gym membership to get fit. Just block off 10-minute increments each day to work out and you'll start to feel the difference. Try walking, biking or doing sets of squats, crunches and jumping jacks. Within minutes you'll raise your heart rate and work those muscles. If you have kids, join in the fun with them and you'll be surprised just how quickly you get in a quick workout. A game of tag, for example, is a great running exercise. Plus it's a wonderful way to bond with your family. Bonus: Your kids are learning to exercise through play. Not sure how to get started? Familydoctor.org has you covered. Hydration Everyone knows soda is unhealthy, but for other drinks it's not so obvious. Many fruit juices and sports drinks are packed with sugar and calories. Hydration is important, so drink as much water as possible to boost your health. Staying properly hydrated is essential to healthy living, and because the body is approximately half made of water, there's no better drink than good old H2O. If that is too bland, add some healthy flavor with cut fruit, such as oranges, apples, kiwi or strawberries. Sun protection The sun gives off rays of light that are helpful and harmful. Some sun exposure is good because it helps the body create vitamin D, which absorbs calcium. Too much sun exposure, though, can lead to skin changes, a lowered immune system and cancer. It takes just a minute to slather on sunscreen to block harmful rays even in the winter months. Focus on the face which is exposed all year long, and during warm months or while vacationing, make sure to use sunscreen on the entire body, reapplying regularly. What's more, teach children to do the same to create healthy habits that will last a lifetime.

Snowshoeing for Scouts Snowshoeing for Scouts Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 10:00am to 11:30am
Scouts will learn how to prepare for being outdoors in winter as well as how to use snowshoes. We’ll go for a hike in snowshoes, stopping along the way to talk about outdoor scenarios and how to prepare for them. If we don’t get any snow we’ll hike in our boots. The hike will be about two miles. Bring water and a snack. Wear waterproof boots and dress for the weather. Registration is required. You will be asked to specify your weight range when registering; this is to determine what size snowshoe you will need. You can also view and register for community programs online at http://events.dcnr.pa.gov/. If you need an accommodation to participate in a program please contact the park office at 610-746-2801 or [email protected]. With at least three days notice, interpreters for people who are deaf or hard of hearing are available for educational programs. January 27Columcille's Annual Women's Retreat Weekend Columcille's Annual Women's Retreat Weekend will be held January 27th thru January 29th, 2017.
Registrations must be received by January 25th! Please feel free to Share this with a special woman in your life who deserves a weekend retreat. ("We realize that times are financially difficult for many. If you cannot afford to come yet feel strongly called to be with us, please let us know! There are a few partial scholarships available plus Credit Cards can be accepted by contacting Beth at [email protected] for details.") We are very excited to announce that Columcille's Annual Women's Retreat will once again be held at the Kirkridge Farmhouse. Keeping with tradition, the Women of Columcille invite you to come celebrate and honor our beloved Brighid, Goddess of Fire and Water. It is also that time of year when life slowly begins to flow and move underneath. It is the return of 'Light', the beginning of Spring also known as Imbolc 'flowing of ewe's milk' when it was all agrarian society. Let's celebrate and prepare ourselves for the return of 'Light' once again through ceremony, song, ritual and camaraderie of all your Sistars or just take 'me' time, walk the land, meditate and reflect! Of course, there is play time for the 'inner child' to create and express herself with our craft time! Later we honor Brighid with a healing Fire ceremony, followed by our deeply bonding bonfire gathering with song, chants, and 'placing of cloths' for Brighid's Blessings. Then let off 'steam' from all that fire work with a pulsating drumming circle! Gift yourself with the richly rewarding and fulfilling retreat experience, whether it be just one day or the whole weekend. It promises to be one of joy, growth, new friends, self-discovery and empowerment - doing 'inner work' has never been so rewarding! We look forward to 'connecting' with all our Sistars!
