June Jones Education Chair of Bangor Womens Club (GFWC) is proud to announce that Erika Neetz has been selected to represent Bangor at the 2017 HOBY Leadership Training Program this Spring in Philadelphia. She is the daughter of John and Kelly Neetz Erika is a Sophmore at Bangor Area High School. She is an Honor Roll Student, and active leader in school. Some of her activities include Bangor Area SADD Club, Marching Band, Pep Band, Concert Band, and Track and Field. Outside of school she is a volunteer at her local church, and Elk’s Lodge, as well as a member of the Drug Awareness Committee.
Her future plans are to attend college and major in music. She plans to attend college for six years in order to earn a Master’s Degree in Music Education. FLORIANOPOLIS, Brazil, Jan. 6 (UPI) -- A Brazilian great-grandmother was shocked to discover the St.Anthony figurine she had been praying to every day was actually Elrond from The Lord of the Rings.
Gabriela Brandao of Florianopolis said in a Facebook post something seemed odd about the St. Anthony figurine that her daughter's great-grandmother has been praying to every day. Brandao did some research online and found an identical figure -- Elrond, the character played by Hugo Weaving in The Lord of the Rings films. "We tried to explain right away but she didn't understand at first," Brandao told Buzzfeed. "The next day we explained again and she understood and we got her a new figure of Saint Anthony." Brandao's Dec. 30 post dubbed her story "the funniest discovery of 2016."

Allentown, PA: The Lehigh Valley Steelhawks are happy to announce their 2017 National Arena League (NAL) schedule. Featuring six home and six away games, the Steelhawks season opens at home on Sunday, March 19 th at 4pm against the expansion Dayton Wolfpack.
“After much anticipation are thrilled to be able to release our 2017 league schedule today,” stated Steelhawks General Manager Mike Clark. “The National Arena League is ready to kickoff its inaugural season, and we can’t wait to start our seventh year of play. Week one can’t come soon enough, and we look forward to seeing the Steelhawks faithful out in full force this season inside the PPL Center.” Additional schedule highlights include a Week Three matchup where the team will be making the long trip to Florida to take on the Jacksonville Sharks, former members of the AFL. Week Four brings a familiar opponent to the Valley; the Columbus Lions will be in the Hawks Nest for the Steelhawks second home game on April 9th. The Steelhawks closest rivals this year will be the Dayton (Ohio) Wolfpack and the High Country (North Carolina) Grizzlies, each of whom appear on Lehigh Valley’s schedule multiple times; LV faces Dayton four times – two home, two away, and High Country three times – one home, two away.
