'Mattei Is The Way' Kicks Off![]() Nazareth, June 20, 2016 - After a successful write-in campaign during the primary, Dave Mattei is on the ballot for the general election to be held on November 8, 2016. Mattei is seeking to become the next State Representative for the 137th District. He jumped into the race as the incumbent did not have a challenger and believes has become complacent with getting the job done. A former NJ State Trooper, local small business owner and current community leader Dave believes he is in touch with the people of the district and understands the issues they face.
On Thursday, Mattei held his campaign kick-off at his office located at 6 South Broad Street in Nazareth. Rich Grucela was at the event to announce his endorsement of Mattei and that he is the Chair to Mattei’s campaign committee. During Grucela’s introduction of Dave he said, “I am impressed with his (Dave’s) temperament and ideas. I have alot of faith in Dave. He has the ability to work together and compromise. He is someone who can work across the aisle, someone who has the personality and temperament to compromise and understand that you have to govern without bi-partisanship. We need Dave to turn it around and get things done and work for the good of the people and to govern.” About 50 people turned out for the campaign kick-off to note their support for Mattei. Attorney Mark Aurand was among those who attended. Mark feels “as a small business owner in Nazareth Borough, Dave has the first hand experience with the challenges facing Main Street and the middle class. Dave will stand up for small business owners, wage earners and ordinary people. He will stand up to the large business interests that so much power.” In talking with his supporters, Dave said he is ready to work to end the obstruction going on in Harrisburg, wants to help small business owners create jobs and a long-term sustaining business, and wants to see real property tax reform in which the people in his district see relief . ![]() This unique vehicle was on display at the Vets auto show held Sunday at the Blue Valley Farm Show. Columcille Megalith Park Tours Columcille Megalith Park offers guided tours on the third Saturday of each month
Their tour will start at 10:00am with an orientation talk in the standing stone circle by Irish historian and storyteller Tom Egan who will explain the park's mission and the origins of European standing stone monuments. Tom will also give details on the origins and extent of the European Celtic culture with a short explanation about the gods and goddesses of ancient Celtic Mythology. Included is an explanation of who Columcille was in the context of early Irish history and an explanation of how the park's founder Bill Cohea became inspired to create the beautiful place we will be touring. The tour will then begin. Stops along the tour will include St. Columba's Chapel, St. Oran's Bell Tower, Signal Hill, Thor's Gate, the Labyrinth, Temple of the Glen and the Cauldron stone. Plus the Fairy Ring, the Sacred Mens's site, Celtic eye, the Sacred Women's site, Manannan's Stone and the Sirius Stone. At each stop along the tour the special meaning of that place will be discussed, particularly as the place relates to the topics that were covered in the initial orientation talk. These discussions at the sites along the way typically vary considerably in content and depth to keep them responsive to the varied interests of individuals taking each tour. The tours will end at the Voyagers Lounge around noon, where those on the tour are invited to sign the guest book and examine the publications, crystals and other material related to the park that are available there. If you would like additional information you may contact Tom Egan directly on 610-360-1701. There is no charge for the tour but freewill donations are gladly accepted. June 17, 1972 - Following a seemingly routine burglary, five men were arrested at the National Democratic Headquarters in the Watergate complex in Washington, D.C. However, subsequent investigations revealed the burglars were actually agents hired by the Committee for the Re-election of President Richard Nixon. A long chain of events then followed in which the president and top aides became involved in an extensive cover-up of this and other White House sanctioned illegal activities, eventually leading to the resignation of President Nixon on August 9, 1974.

Foster Your Children's Love of Outdoors

(StatePoint) Many families spend summer vacation taking advantage of the great outdoors -- from picnics to hikes to time at the pool.
Parents are often looking for ways to turn these typical warm weather activities into creative adventures and engaging learning experiences.
Jessica Turner, author of “The Fringe Hours,” and mother of three, is an expert at incorporating the sun, sand and surf into crafting activities. She’s sharing some of her best summer tips to encourage creative play, while keeping kids healthy, happy and safe.
Crafty Ideas
• Take a hike: There over 6,000 state parks nationwide. Take advantage of one near home. While traversing the terrain, gather leaves, sticks and fallen flowers. Print out an 8x10 inch picture of your child and glue the nature finds around the edges.
• Picnic imprints: Let little ones run around in search of rocks and sticks. Place the items on top of a piece of construction paper and leave somewhere sunny. Check back in an hour and remove the objects. Kids will be amazed to see the objects’ outlines imprinted on the paper.
• Seashells by the seashore: Bring along pails and stroll the shore in search of seashells of varying sizes. Once home, break out the glue, paint and googly eyes to create whimsical jewelry, funny fish and even wind chimes.
• Backyard adventure: All it takes to turn a backyard into a deserted island is a little paint. Grab some rocks, paint them gold and hide them around the yard. Create a treasure map and get into the theme by dressing the kids up in pirate gear. Then head outside to hunt for gold.
Be Prepared
• Sun protection: Young children can be especially sensitive to sun. Seek shade when possible and wear hats and sunglasses.
Protect babies’ skin from harmful UV rays with a pediatrician-tested sunscreen created with the fewest ingredients possible. For example, Tom’s of Maine Baby Sunscreen is comprised of only five ingredients, including zinc oxide. It provides SPF 30 protection and is water-resistant up to 80 minutes.
• Basic first aid: Outdoor fun can lead to scrapes and boo boos. Don’t leave home without basic first aid items. Your kit should include bandages, antiseptic wipes, tweezers for splinters and anti-itch relief, in the event of bug bites.
• Baby care: Babies are prone to a number of skin irritations, particularly in warmer weather. Prevent diaper rash with a gentle hypoallergenic cream, such as Tom’s of Maine Baby Diaper Cream. More information can be found at TomsofMaine.com.
• Healthy hydration: No matter how much fun the kids are having, never forget the importance of hydration, particularly when they are active. For maximum benefit, stick to water, healthy drinks and fresh fruit. On a similar note, keep kids fueled for outdoor exploration with plenty of nutrition-packed snacks!
This season, foster a love of the great outdoors. To maximize your fun in the sun, be prepared with all the essentials for creative, safe adventures.

Columcille Megalith Park Tours
Columcille Megalith Park offers guided tours on the third Saturday of each month

The tours will end at the Voyagers Lounge around noon, where those on the tour are invited to sign the guest book and examine the publications, crystals and other material related to the park that are available there.

Amateur Radio Field Day Members of the Delaware-Lehigh Amateur Radio Club will participate in the 24-hour national Amateur Radio Field Day exercise, Saturday, June 25, 2 p.m. – Sunday, June 26, 2 p.m. at Louise Moore Park, off Country Club Road in Easton. Since 1933, ham radio operators across North America have established temporary ham radio stations in public locations during Field Day to showcase the science and skill of Amateur Radio. This event is open to the public and all are encouraged to attend.
For over 100 years, Amateur Radio — sometimes called ham radio — has allowed people from all walks of life to experiment with electronics and communications techniques, as well as provide a free public service to their communities during a disaster, all without needing a cell phone or the Internet. Field Day demonstrates ham radio’s ability to work reliably under any conditions from almost any location and create an independent communications network. Over 35,000 people from thousands of locations participated in Field Day in 2015. “It’s easy for anyone to pick up a computer or smartphone, connect to the Internet and communicate, with no knowledge of how the devices function or connect to each other,” said Sean Kutzko of the American Radio Relay League, the national association for Amateur Radio. “But if there’s an interruption of service or you’re out of range of a cell tower, you have no way to communicate. Ham radio functions completely independent of the Internet or cell phone infrastructure, can interface with tablets or smartphones, and can be set up almost anywhere in minutes. That’s the beauty of Amateur Radio during a communications outage.” “Hams can literally throw a wire in a tree for an antenna, connect it to a battery-powered transmitter and communicate halfway around the world,” Kutzko added. “Hams do this by using a layer of Earth’s atmosphere as a sort of mirror for radio waves. In today’s electronic do-it-yourself (DIY) environment, ham radio remains one of the best ways for people to learn about electronics, physics, meteorology, and numerous other scientific disciplines, and is a huge asset to any community during disasters if the standard communication infrastructure goes down.” Anyone may become a licensed Amateur Radio operator. There are over 725,000 licensed hams in the United States, as young as 5 and as old as 100. With clubs such as the Delaware-Lehigh Amateur Radio Club in Nazareth it’s easy for anybody to get involved. For more information about Field Day and Amateur Radio, contact ke3aw@ARRL.net, or 610.432.8286, or visit www.dlarc.org and www.arrl.org/what-is-ham-radio. We'll have lunch and wrap up with some discussion about books and answer any questions. This program is not about foraging for edibles. Bring a hand lens if you have one. Bring some lunch and prepare to be outdoors with adequate footwear, clothing, and bug repellant. Registration is required. Ask The Doc........
Technology can be wonderful!

I know sometimes new technologies can be frustrating and leave us questioning whether “progress” is worth the hassle. But, that is not the case with intra-oral digital scanners. We have been using our digital scanner at Family Dental Care now for 3 months, and the results are amazing.
Sure, it’s pretty “cool” technology, and it has been totally comfortable for patients. No gagging going on! And the turn around time is much shorter. All of these are pluses, but here is the real benefit… the accuracy and fit of what we are making.
I can comfortably predict a great fit of your new crowns, splints, Invisalign aligners, retainers, and anything else we scan for. That makes it worthwhile.
It’s one thing to restore your mouth to health, but I want, you want, and you deserve to rest assured that what is placed in your mouth is the best possible fit known to dentistry.
Digital scanning is here to stay at Family Dental Care. Feel free to ask us about our scanner. Garywilliamsdmd.com.
