RIO DE JANEIRO, July 8 (UPI) -- A tour guide in Brazil snapped a once-in-a-lifetime selfie with a friendly sloth he found lounging in a tree.
Marcelo Sueth, an adventure tour guide based out of Rio de Janeiro, said he was on a trail near the city last month when he spotted the sloth relaxing on a tree branch. Sueth said he snapped some shots from afar before approaching the sloth and determining it wasn't bothered by his presence. The tour guide used a selfie stick to snap a shot of himself with the seemingly smiling mammal as it posed with one arm hanging off the tree. "It was an amazing moment of interaction and exchange of good energy," Sueth told ABC News.

But while mascara and eyeliner can create different looks, from subtle to striking, they can also make you sick. The problem: Eye makeup can be a breeding ground for bacteria. We all have a few microbes, like Staphylococcus and Streptococcus, living around our eyes. When eyeliner or mascara is applied, some of those bugs stick to the applicator and are carried back to the makeup container. Eye products are supposed to contain preservatives to keep bacteria from growing. But some products don't have enough. And over time, the preservative's effectiveness declines. As a result, the bacteria on an eyeliner pencil or mascara applicator grow and multiply. Each time you apply makeup, you get bigger and bigger doses of bacteria -- enough to cause serious infections. "Every year, many women end up with eye infections from cosmetics," warns the University of Rochester Medical Center. "In rare cases, women have been temporarily or permanently blinded by an eye cosmetic, according to the FDA." You can, however, prevent these problems and others with these simple tips: * Don't share makeup to avoid spreading bacteria. * Replace your eye makeup regularly, at least every three to four months. * Remove eye makeup at the end of every day. * Practice good eyelid hygiene. * Keep updated on the latest eyelid-eyelash hygiene clinical safety reports. Christine Sindt, OD, Clinical Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Iowa, recommends wiping the eyes daily with a new antibacterial eyelid cleanser, such as Avenova from NovaBay Pharmaceuticals. Tasty Tuesdays is back at Trinity Lutheran Church!
Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, located at Broadway and 4th Streets in Bangor, will once again offer the free bag lunch program to children, families and individuals in the Bangor community this summer. Tasty Tuesdays will begin on Tuesday, June 14 and will run until August 12. Every Tuesday the bag lunch will be available and will contain a sandwich, fresh fruit, chips, a healthy snack bar and a drink. The lunches will be available for pick up at the church between 11:30am-1pm. If you would like to register but are unable to come at that time to pick up the lunch, please let the church office know and accommodations can be made.

BAHS School Marching Band Uniform Fund Drive
The Bangor Area High School Marching Band uniforms, which are modeled after Her Majesty’s Royal Welsh Guard, pay tribute to the heritage of Bangor, PA. After years of normal wear and tear, the uniforms must be replaced. The new uniforms will continue to use the same style.
The Slater Band Boosters have initiated a fund drive to support this effort. The Boosters will appreciate any donations, small or large, to this cause.
The names of contributors will be acknowledged in concert programs during the 2016-2017 school year. Names of contributors at higher levels will be memorialized on a plaque to be displayed in the theater wing of the high school.

Scavello to Host Free Vision Screening for Children Pen Argyl – State Senator Mario Scavello will host a free Vision Screening for children on Thursday, July 14 from 10 AM to 3 PM at his Pen Argyl District Office (2 North Robinson Avenue, Pen Argyl). The screening is hosted in partnership with Lions Kidsight USA.
Experts have estimated that as much as 80% of learning is visual and, if vision problems go undetected, they may become permanent by age seven. Children will be referred to an eye care provider for a comprehensive vision examination based on the results of the screening. Bethel Inn Presentation The Slate Belt Heritage Center will hold their monthly presentation 700pm, Thursday, July 14. Speaker for the evening will be Kara Muschock who will speak on the history of the Mt. Bethel Inn, known now as TK's. A log tavern stood on the site before the township of Upper Mt. Bethel was established in 1787 and it was the site of the first elections and community meetings. The present inn was constructed in 1855 and the main stage coach route ran behind this site with 611 to the front. It was also the site of the first post office. 90th Birthday Celebration
Please join the friends and family of Carl S. Davis as we celebrate his 90th birthday at Weona Park, Pen Argyl, from 4 to 7 pm Friday evening, July 22, 2016. Carl was born in Bangor and graduated from Bangor High School. He and his wife, Anne, built a home and raised their family outside Pen Argyl. He was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church.
