Lighten your load: Knowing your laundry
personality can make the chore a cinch
(BPT) - Chic, trendy, sporty, bohemian, sophisticated, fun, classic - you probably have a clear vision of your fashion and style personality. But do you know your laundry personality? How you wash the clothes you wear is every bit as personal and unique to you as the clothes themselves. And knowing your laundry personality could help ease the load and make the chore easy and fail-proof.
A quarter of American households say they aren't doing laundry efficiently, according to a survey commissioned by LG Electronics. Even people who say they are doing their laundry efficiently still have complaints with the process. In fact, more than half say they aren't satisfied with their current washing machine, and the majority cite a list of other things they'd rather be spending their time on besides laundry.
Recognizing your laundry personality, and choosing products that cater to your unique style, will make doing laundry an easy, and perhaps even enjoyable, affair. Here are four common laundry personalities, their identifying traits, and tips for achieving maximum efficiency:
The super sorter
Does the thought of washing dark jeans and a pink blouse in the same load leave you light-headed? You're not alone; 39 percent of Americans say they prefer to avoid mixing items of different colors in the same load. Some of those surveyed also prefer to wash items like intimates (26 percent), sportswear (48 percent) and really grubby clothes (25 percent) separately.
Facilitate your separation efforts by using multiple baskets or hampers in your laundry room. Label them - darks, whites, delicates, workout, etc. - and encourage family members to drop their dirty clothes in the appropriate basket.
The light loader
Does your desire to separate and preserve clothes, including those delicate special care items, ever leave you with the only option to run the washer with just one or two items? You're not alone. 19 percent of Americans often don't have enough to make a full load, and nearly a third wish they could do multiple loads simultaneously.
New laundry technology now makes it possible to efficiently do a very small load, or two loads at once. A significant innovation that will soon hit the market is LG's TWIN Wash with SideKick pedestal washer that allows you to run two separate loads of laundry at the same time. The main washing compartment is a large-size front-load washer, while the SideKick pedestal washer fits beneath the main machine. It's specifically designed to wash small, custom-care laundry loads and its compact size makes it perfect for items you want to keep separate from normal loads, such as intimates and active wear.

Cheetah Hitches Ride on Jeep
MAASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE, Kenya, Feb. 5 (UPI) -- A cheetah that jumped onto a safari group's Jeep in Kenya turned out to be seeking a place to chill for a while.
Video of the incident in Masai Mara shows the curious big cat spot the Jeep from afar and wander toward the vehicle for a closer look as the driver stops for the tourists to take pictures.
The cheetah climbs up on the Jeep as the vehicle's occupants continue to snap photos and, after a few moments, it appears contented to sit down for a rest next to the Jeep's open roof.
The safari group said the cheetah remained on the Jeep for about 45 minutes before jumping off when the driver started the engine.

Michael Pogach, associate professor of English at Northampton Community College (NCC), will discuss his first book, The Spider in the Laurel, published in September by Ragnarok Publications, during “An Hour with Michael Pogach,” Tuesday, February 9 at 11:00 in the Lipkin Theatre, Kopecek Hall, NCC Bethlehem Campus.
Pogach will also sign copies of his book and conduct a question-and-answer session. Project Child Hosting Dance Event
Project Child is hosting its tenth annual Have a Heart for Children dinner dance on Saturday, March 5th at the Hotel Bethlehem. Proceeds will benefit initiatives designed to reduce child abuse in the Lehigh Valley. The event begins at 5:30 P.M and is a lovely evening of mixing, mingling and dancing to the music of the Philadelphia Funk Authority. Project Child is a program of Valley Youth House. It has been operating since 1991 with the mission of preventing child abuse and neglect in the Lehigh Valley and the surrounding region. This mission is accomplished through the provision of educational resources for parents and professionals; the dissemination of information about the seriousness of child abuse and strategies for its prevention. Alternatives to physical violence are promoted along with parenting skills.
As a community coalition, Project Child is comprised of individuals and agencies engaged in striving to protect the rights of children to live free of abuse and neglect in an environment which fosters positive self-development.
Whether you are in the mood to enjoy the ambience of the historic hotel or dance to live music, you will be coming together to join the effort to protect our community’s children from abuse and neglect. Young at Art - Expo of Art Camps On Saturday, March 12, 2016, the Lehigh Valley Arts Council will present Young at Art, an expo of arts camps and schools, to assist parents with selecting the appropriate summer class for their child. This inaugural event will be held at Penn State Lehigh Valley, from 9:00am to 2:30pm, and feature thirty exhibitors who offer lessons in the performing, literary, media and visual arts. Free admission to the expo is provided to the public.
Families with children (ages four to eighteen years old) will enjoy meeting the various exhibitors and learning about the artistic opportunities for their aspiring creatives. The day’s festivities will showcase an arts demonstration, performance or activity every 25-minutes so children will have a chance “to try on what kind of artist” they want to be this summer. A community egg hunt will held Saturday March 19 at 3:00pm to beneift The Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society.
All money raised will go to benefit the American Cancer Society. They will have a few age groups with a small gift for each child and a few hidden surprise eggs. Quiet Valley’s 19th Century Days
Quiet Valley’s 19th Century Days - A Day in the Life is a new hands-on educational program designed to provide students ages 6-18 with the opportunity to explore the lifestyle of a 19th century homestead. Save the date for this two-day event: Thursday, April 21th & Friday, April 22st 2016. Each day features two workshop slots; one from 12:30-2:00 and one from 2:15-3:45. You may sign up for up to four different sessions. There are over 25 different workshop offerings from small and large animal husbandry to simple machine to carding, spinning and weaving which are all designed to meet the new Pennsylvania STEAM-based educational curriculum guidelines.
Registration will begin at 9 a.m. on February 1, 2016. Registrations will be taken by phone, in person or on-line until sessions are full. The price for all workshops is $5.00 per student for each session, which also covers all material fees. Registration is complete only when payment is received. Payment by PayPal, credit card or debit card is recommended.
Tours of the historic farm are available from 10-12:30 each day at $8 for adults and $5 for children 3-12.

UMBT Recreation Field Hockey Program
UMBT Recreation Field Hockey Program will resume in May. UMBT Sports Recreation is proud to team with Adidas for the upcoming 2016 UMBT Recreation Field Hockey Program. The program is open to girls in grades 1 through 6. Each session focuses on fundamental skills, introduction and development as well as game play. The program is held at the Upper Mt. Bethel Community Park. Fee is $45 for first child and $35 for each additional child in the family. More information will be released at a later date.
