Bangor - Palisades Boys Podcast.......Happening Today......Town Topics Live - Bangor vs Moravian Girls ..... Cold Finish Dooms Bangor Girls to 36-34 Loss
Walsh Sets New 3-Point Record The Bangor Girls (15-4) went ice cold in the final period scoring only two points and falling to Moravian Academy in the final 30 seconds 36-34 when the Lions’ Grace Moser hit a three-pointer from the baseline. The loss was a bitter-sweet moment for Bangor since senior Casey Walsh set a new career record for three-pointers beating the old record set by Ashley Capozzolo in 2006. She also set a seasonal, personal best record for three-pointers. Prior to that final-quarter collapse, the Slaters appeared to be on the verge of avenging an earlier loss to Moravian. Bangor was up by as many as 11 points in the third period and by nine points at 32-23 going into the fourth quarter. Moravian, however, played a very tight, aggressive man-to-man defense going down the stretch forcing Bangor turnovers. Moreover, the Slaters normally accurate free throw shooting was not up to par. Last game they hit 78%, but last night they only made 9 of 19 for 47%. Walsh led the team in scoring with 14 points, including four, threes. Maddie Minner scored 7 and Morgan Karasek 6. The Slaters will most likely gain a berth in the league quarterfinals. Bangor travels to Palmerton Thursday. Bangor Boys Beat Moravian 64-48 The Bangor Boys avenged an earlier 19-point loss to Moravian by winning 64-48 last night at Moravian. No other details available. Bangor will entertain Palmerton in crucial league game Thursday. Boylan, NDGP Down Pen Argyl Boys 66-47 The Pen Argyl boys couldn’t withstand a 25-point performance by Notre Dame star Brendan Boyle as the Knights fell to a 66-47 loss to the Crusaders. Pen Argyl was only down four points at halftime, trailing 25-21. The Crusaders, however, steadily pulled away in the second half, outscoring the Knights 41-26 . Jordan DeFelice led Pen Argyl with 15 points. Conor Fehr and Matt Raggozino each scored 8. Pen Argyl made eight, threes with DeFelice, Fehr and Raggozino each scoring two while Jilian Pysher and Zach Rudy hit one apiece. Pen Argyl will be on the road Thursday at Northwestern. Help Track Bald Eagle Population The Pennsylvania Game Commission is asking for the public’s help to track the state’s growing bald eagle population. After reaching a low of just three nesting bald eagle pairs in the Commonwealth in the early 1980s, officials now estimate there are more than 300 nesting pairs here.
While bald eagles are no longer listed as a threatened species in Pennsylvania, they are still protected by the U.S. Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act, which prohibits taking of the birds, nests or eggs. If you spot a bald eagle nest, please use proper etiquette to avoid disturbing the birds. To review bald eagle nest guidelines, or to report your nest sighting to the game commission, click here.
