MONTOURSVILLE, Pa. - An elderly Pennsylvania man had no way of visiting his ill wife in the hospital, so he called police to help.
The 84-year-old man's same-aged wife had a medical emergency last Thursday and was taken from their home in an ambulance, according to Montoursville police Chief Jeff Gyurina. The frail man told Gyurina, who was at the scene, he had no family in the area to take him to the hospital, and he can't drive anymore. Gyurina gave him the patrol car's cell number and told him to call whenever he was ready to go. A few hours went by, and Deputy Chief Jason Bentley got the call. He picked up the man and escorted him into the hospital in Williamsport. "It's a small town," the chief said, "so you try to help out when you can." The man's wife went to the hospital a couple hours eariler by ambulance for a medical emergency. The man didn't have any friends or family in the area to help him go see her. Deputy Chief Bentley picked him up at his home in Montoursville and gave him a ride to see her. Shortly after the picture, hospital staff came out with a wheelchair and took him to his wife's bedside in the Emergency Room. Oddest Medical Cases - Hairy eyeball
Your eyeball is certainly one place you don't want to grow hair. A young Iranian man knew that since birth, he had a benign tumor on his eye, just below his pupil. But by the time he was 19, the tumor had grown to about a quarter inch thick (0.64 centimeters), and started sprouting hair.
The tumor was a limbal dermoid. Although this type of tumor isn't typically cancerous, it can grow cartilage, hair and sometimes even sweat glands. Not everyone with these tumors wants or needs them removed. However, doctors did remove the hairy tumor from the man's eye, according to the case report published in January in the New England Journal of Medicine. . April 26 (UPI) -- Security cameras at a Chinese phone shop were rolling when a dog took control of a three-wheeler cab and crashed through the wall of the business.
The footage, filmed Sunday at a store in Taizhou City, Jiangsu Province, shows customers and workers quickly darting out of the way as the three-wheeler taxi cab crashes through the wall and store displays. The vehicle initially appears to be driverless, but witnesses soon discover the cab is occupied -- by a dog. The cab driver said he had left his dog alone in the vehicle with the engine running and the canine apparently knocked the cab out of park, sending it crashing through the store.

THIS DAY IN HISTORY - April 27Universe is created, according to Kepler 4977 On this day in 4977 B.C., the universe is created, according to German mathematician and astronomer Johannes Kepler, considered a founder of modern science. Kepler is best known for his theories explaining the motion of planets. Kepler was born on December 27, 1571, in Weil der Stadt, Germany. As a university student, he studied the Polish astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus’ theories of planetary ordering. Copernicus (1473-1543) believed that the sun, not the earth, was the center of the solar system, a theory that contradicted the prevailing view of the era that the sun revolved around the earth. In 1600, Kepler went to Prague to work for Danish astronomer Tycho Brahe, the imperial mathematician to Rudolf II, emperor of the Holy Roman Empire. Kepler’s main project was to investigate the orbit of Mars. When Brahe died the following year, Kepler took over his job and inherited Brahe’s extensive collection of astronomy data, which had been painstakingly observed by the naked eye. Over the next decade, Kepler learned about the work of Italian physicist and astronomer Galileo Galilei (1564-1642), who had invented a telescope with which he discovered lunar mountains and craters, the largest four satellites of Jupiter and the phases of Venus, among other things. Kepler corresponded with Galileo and eventually obtained a telescope of his own and improved upon the design. In 1609, Kepler published the first two of his three laws of planetary motion, which held that planets move around the sun in ellipses, not circles (as had been widely believed up to that time), and that planets speed up as they approach the sun and slow down as they move away. In 1619, he produced his third law, which used mathematic principles to relate the time a planet takes to orbit the sun to the average distance of the planet from the sun.

Mr. David Blau will present, “Memories of 1964” at the Slate Belt Heritage Center on Thursday, May 10 at 7:00 PM. Mr. Blau will speak about the creation of the “Bangor Slater Mascot”, growing up in Bangor, his parent’s escape from Austria during World War II, and many more memories.
Mr. Blau is a 1964 graduate of Bangor High School where he created and drew the original “Slater Mascot”. He attended Penn State University and received his Degree in Architecture in 1968. He received his Master’s Degree in Urban Planning from Georgia Tech University. He served in the Navy for two years and then accepted a position with the urban planning firm EDAW in San Francisco. He and his wife Jennifer Kristof Blau live in Pleasant Hill, CA. The presentation is free and open to the public. May 12

These are first come first serve spots and are $50.00 each this year and money will be collected as you set up. Just a reminder that there are no gun sales allowed. They will be posting more as the time gets closer. Please feel free to share! The Swap Meet is May 19th and 20th. Spots are available on a first come first serve basis. A spot is 20' X 25' and are $50.00 per spot and allows you both days. You can use more than one spot, but you will need to pay $50.00 for each additional spot you use. If you only want to stay one day the charge is still $50.00. You may start setting up as early as Wednesday May 16th and we will be by to collect at that time. We ask that everyone work on the honor system and if you set up early please do not sell anything until the start of the swap meet. We will have someone come around and collect the money. Demonstration for the Slate Belt Heritage Center Bangor Quarry Hoist will be held Thursday, July 12 at 7 PM - 8 PM at 1st Street and Market Street, Bangor, Pennsylvania 18013 The Bangor Quarry Hoist has booked its first event! On Thursday, July 12, 2018, at 7 PM, it will operate for the Slate Belt Heritage Center's monthly program, which will occur at the Hoist. The program will detail the restoration of the hoist and feature a live demonstration. BTPA Motorcycle Run
Bushkill Township Police Association (BTPA) will be hosting their 2nd annual motorcycle run on September 23, 2018 to support Law Enforcement and BTPA. The ride will be full Police escorted and end with a party at Evergreen Lakes. Your donation of $20 per person will include an event t-shirt, after party including food, beverages and live band. All active and retired Law Enforcement are free with proper identification. There will also be a live K-9 demonstration and many other surprises.
