Toth Named Slaters' Head Football Coachas by Larry Cory
Tom Toth will be Bangor's head football coach next year after serving as interim coach last year for the final seven games of the season, taking over for Brian Miller who resigned after three games. Toth's Slaters went on to average 35 points per game in wins over Salisbury, Northwestern and Wilson. Toth brings an impressive resume as the Slaters' quarterback under Paul Farnan from 1988-90. The Slaters won the Colonial League in 1988 during Toth's sophomore year.. They tied with Nazareth for the title in 1990. Toth completed 32 career touchdown passes and threw for a 3,215 career yards, which at the time was the best in school history. Toth also has served an assistant coach for many years and was head coach from 2002 to 2005. His 2004 squad advanced to the Eastern Conference semi-final before losing 21-20 in overtime to Wyoming Area. A statement from Bangor Athletic Director Bron Holland reads "We are very excited to have Tom Toth as our head football coach. Coach Toth is enthusiastic, positive, and eager to transfer from interim head coach to head coach. Coach Toth’s coaching experience; familiarity with the Bangor School District combined with his vision of developing student-athletes along with his strong leadership characteristics will help him grow our program in a positive direction. I’m confident our student-athletes will feed off his positivity and desire to be successful." ![]() Tom Toth is pictured here prior to the start of his first game as interim Bangor Head Football versus Salisbury last September. The Slaters won that game 34-31 when Saivaughn Vass scored with 4:27 left in the game. Slater fans are hoping for more of the same this fall. Sbtt file photo Larry Cory

Possible Property Tax Rebate For Decedents
Thanks to a recent Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania decision, estates of property owners who died between 2004-2009 can now claim rebates on real estate property taxes paid in the year of death, provided a property tax rebate was received in the year before the decedent’s death. The money was made available through a settlement which removed $20 million from the Pennsylvania Lottery Fund to create a class fund. Claims could range up to $975 per decedent, with an average of approximately $400. It is likely all valid claims will be paid. Pennsylvania REAL ID extension
The Department of Homeland Security is granting Pennsylvania an extension, in order to address the issue that would have rendered state drivers licenses invalid on Jan. 30 when used as identification to enter federal buildings. The General Assembly, PennDOT and Gov. Tom Wolf’s administration now have until June 5, 2017, to come up with a legislative “fix” for the problem, which is also scheduled to impact access to air travel on Jan. 22, 2018. Special Future Events - See BelowCLICK HERE FOR 45-60 DAY CALENDARCan You Believe It?Truck Spills Its Marbles on Highway![]() (UPI) -- Indiana State Police said traffic was slowed but there was still plenty of rolling going on when a truck lost its load of 38,000 pounds of marbles. The state police said the truck was hauling the marbles on Interstate 465 in Indianapolis when the vehicle's trailer came loose and spilled the tiny balls all over the embankment of southbound I-465, near the Pendleton Pike exit.
Police said there were no injuries and one lane of the road was expected to be closed for most of the day while crews worked to clean up the mess. "A truck driver has lost his marbles..." State Police spokesman John Perrine tweeted. "Literally, 38,000 pounds of them on I-465 SB at the 41mm."
Technology...Facts About Radiation You Never Knew![]() (BPT) - Radiation - it's not something most people think about very often, and when they do, their thoughts usually turn to radiation's effects as they are portrayed in the movies. These being namely that exposure to radiation will either turn them into a hideous monster or a superhero.
The truth is, however, that while radiation is great fuel for any Hollywood script, it's more than sci-fi fodder. It's part of your real world. And while it is not something to be feared - as it is in the movies - it is something you should be aware of. To that end, here are five things you may not know about radiation. * You are exposed to radiation every day. One third of the U.S. population lives in a "nuclear shadow" area, meaning they live within 50 miles of a U.S. nuclear power plant. Many people are also exposed to radiation every day through their work as dental assistants, medical practitioners, radiology technicians, chiropractors, etc. * Radiation can come from man-made, terrestrial or cosmic sources. Not all radiation comes from man-made technology. Naturally occurring radiation is present in Earth's crust as well as in the floors and walls of our homes, schools and places of work. It is even found in the food we eat and drink, and the air we breathe. Our own bodies - muscle, bones and tissue - contain naturally occurring radioactive elements as well. * Radiation comes in multiple forms. Non-ionizing radiation, like that found in microwaves, radio waves and visible or infrared light, is largely harmless due to its low energy levels. Ionizing radiation (found in gamma rays, X-rays and other sources) has higher energy levels and can be harmful to the body if you are exposed to large doses or for a long period of time. * You can track radiation levels around you. Radiation is invisible, but that doesn't mean you have to be blind to it. The Dosime device is a hybrid smart home and wearable personal dosimeter that captures real-time radiation exposure in the environment. The accompanying app provides an immediate assessment of the ionizing radiation present in the homes, buildings and spaces you live, work and play that can potentially impact your health without your knowledge. Dosime allows you to access accurate, reliable, easy-to-understand radiation information in real time to manage potential health risks and ensure peace of mind. * You bring radiation into your home every day with things you purchase. Your cat's litter box is a common radiation source in your home, while Brazil nuts and bananas also give off small levels of radiation. The glossy paper appearing in the magazines you read requires a radioactive finish to achieve that shine. The glaze used to decorate those antique jars could be radioactive if the uranium levels are high enough. Even your new granite countertops are a source of radiation as granite is one of the best rock sources for retaining natural radiation. Radiation is around you every day, but that doesn't mean you have to fear it. Remember, most radiation is naturally occurring and your exposure to it won't turn you into a monster, even if a super power would be pretty cool. To learn more about the Dosime device and to see how it can help you monitor radiation levels around you, visit Dosime.com. Technology...Cruising into 2017 with Plans

Columcille's Annual Women's Retreat Weekend
Columcille's Annual Women's Retreat Weekend will be held January 27th thru January 29th, 2017.
Registrations must be received by January 25th! Please feel free to Share this with a special woman in your life who deserves a weekend retreat.
("We realize that times are financially difficult for many. If you cannot afford to come yet feel strongly called to be with us, please let us know! There are a few partial scholarships available plus Credit Cards can be accepted by contacting Beth at beth@rainbowofpromise.com for details.")
We are very excited to announce that Columcille's Annual Women's Retreat will once again be held at the Kirkridge Farmhouse.
Keeping with tradition, the Women of Columcille invite you to come celebrate and honor our beloved Brighid, Goddess of Fire and Water. It is also that time of year when life slowly begins to flow and move underneath. It is the return of 'Light', the beginning of Spring also known as Imbolc 'flowing of ewe's milk' when it was all agrarian society. Let's celebrate and prepare ourselves for the return of 'Light' once again through ceremony, song, ritual and camaraderie of all your Sistars or just take 'me' time, walk the land, meditate and reflect!
Of course, there is play time for the 'inner child' to create and express herself with our craft time! Later we honor Brighid with a healing Fire ceremony, followed by our deeply bonding bonfire gathering with song, chants, and 'placing of cloths' for Brighid's Blessings. Then let off 'steam' from all that fire work with a pulsating drumming circle!
Gift yourself with the richly rewarding and fulfilling retreat experience, whether it be just one day or the whole weekend. It promises to be one of joy, growth, new friends, self-discovery and empowerment - doing 'inner work' has never been so rewarding! We look forward to 'connecting' with all our Sistars!
For full information on the retreat and registration information please click HERE to view and download the Brighid Retreat Program and Registration.\
