IRS Scam Alert Rep. Marcia Hahn's district office has been contacted by a number of constituents who have received telephone calls from individuals who claim to represent the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and ask for money to be sent to them. The latest version of this nationwide scam has the alleged IRS agent attempting to claim back taxes from college students on loans they took out. While arrests have been made across the country, approximately $36 million has been lost due to unsuspecting victims believing the people contacting them were truly IRS agents.
While criminal, these scammers are very intelligent when it comes to finding creative ways to swindle you. Some are now trying to convince their victims to send money in the form of a gift card. If you have a tax debt, you will NOT be contacted by the IRS or Treasury Department by telephone. Should you receive such a call, your first response should be to hang up and contact the treasury inspector general for tax administration at 1-800-366-4484.

Tasty Tuesdays is back at Trinity Lutheran Church! Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, located at Broadway and 4th Streets in Bangor, will once again offer the free bag lunch program to children, families and individuals in the Bangor community this summer. Tasty Tuesdays will begin on Tuesday, June 14 and will run until August 12. Every Tuesday the bag lunch will be available and will contain a sandwich, fresh fruit, chips, a healthy snack bar and a drink. The lunches will be available for pick up at the church between 11:30am-1pm. ST. GEORGE ISLAND, Fla., July 11 (UPI) -- A massive whale shark estimated to be 16 feet long was filmed approaching a fishing boat in Florida and allowing a man to touch its head.
The video, filmed June 21 about 14 miles off the coast of Florida's St. George Island, shows the massive shark approach the boat where the filmer and his family were fishing. "My family and I were fishing about 14 miles off the coast of St. George Island, Florida, when a giant whale shark approached the boat," the man wrote. "The shark was about 16 feet long. I was able to reach out and touch its head when it came close."

Bear Creek Day Camp will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Bangor from 9:00-3:00, August 8 -12.

Students will construct the guitar from machined parts, while crafting the finer details, such as bringing out a robust tone and applying the finish by hand.
